The History of the Reformation of the 16th Century, by Jean-Henri Merle d'Aubigné:

"We have nothing to fear for the future except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us and His teachings in our past history... In history and in prophecy the Word of God portrays the long continued conflict between truth and error. That conflict is yet in progress. Those things which have been, will be repeated ... old controversies will arouse to new life," so wrote a nineteenth century illuminate.
"Let us arouse to comprehend the situation ... and seek to arouse the spirit of true Protestantism, awakening the world to a sense of the value and privileges of religious liberty so long enjoyed."

Today we see an alarming lack of understanding in the Protestant Church concerning the cause and effect of the Reformation. The subsequent trials endured to maintain and "contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints," should be the study of every true Protestant.

D'Aubigné's masterpiece, History of the Reformation of the Sixteenth Century, pulls back the curtain of history and Divine providence to reveal the true catalyst for the reformation--God's Word and His Holy Spirit.
